Training (in house with boarding)
Troika is a strong believer in the art of classical dressage training. At the program’s core, the French philosophy of ‘ease’ is applied; treat the horses with the utmost of respect. “Be Fair and Firm,” reflects the training essence at Troika. The rider is encouraged to earn trust, with the absence of force being top priority. Emphasis is also put on the riders to develop a correct seat. Troika provides highly skilled and informed riders who understand and appreciate that every horse is an individual with both soul and heart. The absence of force is reflected in the calm, well-adjusted, friendly faces of the horses.
Currently our Breeding and Operations Manager at Troika, Hans Hollenbach, is also the Head Coach. He has worked closely with former Soviet equestrian team members and some of Europe’s finest riders and coaches. His past experience and knowledge has allowed him to master the art of classical dressage. His experience and dedication are evident in all aspects of our training program.
The versatility of training is imperative for proper mental and physical development of both horse and rider. Careful attention is paid to the understanding of the horses character and ability. Imprinted from birth, and handled regularly, Troika’s young horses are all well mannered with sweet dispositions- they are eager to please. Formal training begins at the age of 3 when horses are placed into customized training programs that reflect their mental and physical development. The fundamentals are taught without any restrictive forces, thus protecting and encouraging the horses’ natural spirit and ability. Young horses are not slated for specific disciplines until after 2 years.
