Troika’s primary aim is to ensure the preservation of the Trakehner horse; one of the heritages of former East Germany. The goal at Troika is to sustain and advance the breeding of the Trakehner Warmblood horse in Canada and North America.

Troika has been developed as a multi-faceted facility offering services that include; semen collection and sales, affordable training programs with boarding, home-bred horse breeding and sales, and a Tack & Gift Shop.

We have a recently built, fully equipped, breeding facility and laboratory. These facilities are temperature controlled and provide our fully trained and experienced technicians with a safe environment for optimum semen collection, handling, shipping and insemination.

With an indoor heated riding ring, our experienced riders are able to work comfortably through the winter under the guidance of our Head Coach. During the summer months our grounds provide a safe and effective training pavilion for our horses. They are trained not only extensively under saddle, but also over fences and natural obstacles, through gymnastic exercises, free jumping, and work in-hand. The idea of such a complex training program is to challenge the horse and rider mentally to promote balance, improve stamina, build and reinforce confidence, all while increasing the suppleness of the horses back.

We understand that horses are instinctively herd animals and for this reason we created a state-of-the-art, open concept, broodmare facility. It offers access to year-round water supply and has a computerized feeding system providing the broodmares with the necessary nutrients during pregnancy and/or lactation. Hay and grass are provided at libitum. Our horses are free to roam some 60 acres of pastures and rolling hills. Once foals are born, this environment provides them with the necessary socialization and an understanding of hierarchy. Roaming with the herd in large pastures also allows natural development of strong muscles, ligaments, bones and joints.

Troika is also proud to host our Bi-annual Trakehner Presentation and Sale (every second Saturday in May and September). Our Open House will showcase over 30 Trakehner and Achal-Teke horses in a program that highlights young horses, future and current breeding stallions, mares, broodmares and foals, as well as yearlings. Horses will be shown according to their age and training level under-saddle, over fences, and at liberty. Demonstrations will feature expert commentary on horse history, bloodlines, type and individual skill sets. Troika is proud to present our breeding successes and horses available for purchase.

Please feel free to visit us if you are ever in the neighbourhood!
